THE PRE-WEDDING CONSULTATION
Consultation is the creation of a relationship
WHAT IS A PRE-WEDDING CONSULTATION
The pre-wedding photography consultation is simply a session where we both get a chance to connect with each other, learn about each other, and discuss expectations. This consultation does not have to be a formal meeting but can be more relaxed and informal. It can happen either face to face or virtually. The consultation can take place either prior to booking or immediately after. If done prior to booking, the consultation can be the deciding factor in making that final decision to book.
Here are a few things that you can expect to discuss during the consultation:
- Getting to know each other
- Managing expectations and visions
- Timelines and locations
- The flow of the wedding day
- Dos and Don’ts
- Sensitive situations
- Physical features or insecurities that I need to know about
- Shooting and editing styles
- Albums and Books
- Booking information(Deposits and Balances)
- Contract Details
WHO SHOULD BE AT THE CONSULTATION?
Ideally it is best to have just the bride and groom and photographer at the session. In some cases it may be helpful to have the wedding planner present to have everyone on the same page, however there may be things discussed that you may not want to share with the planner. Also, the planner’s role in this consultation is absolutely minimal as it is more about expected expectations, outcomes and relationships between client and photographer.
DURATION OF THE CONSULTATION
The consultation should not last more than an hour – 45 minutes at best. This however depends on the number of questions being asked, the details of your wedding, and ofcourse how much fun we are having! 🙂
THINGS TO BRING TO THE CONSULTATION
There are a number of things you can bring to the consultation to help things flow more smoothly:
- Bring a list of questions you want to ask
- Bring a set of images that you like or create a mood board
- Bring contact information for key contacts for the wedding
There are also a number of things that I will bring to the consultation:
- I will bring sample albums so you can have a first hand look and feel of the products
- I will bring a short questionnaire to guide the discussion
- I will bring a copy of the wedding photography contract
- I will bring my portfolio and other full wedding fro you to view
HOW NECESSARY IS THE CONSULTATION?
Very necessary! This is probably our best opportunity to go over all the details of your wedding day – before the wedding day. Ensuring that all logistical details are in place and expectations are known beforehand, will provide peace of mind and ensure that everyone is on the same page.
